The courtyard

As the weather becomes nicer, it has been fun to explore our outdoor environment more and notice the changes as everything begins to bloom.  As they grow and mature, they genuinely enjoy more opportunities to collaborate with their classmates and with other classrooms.

On a beautiful day this spring, we took the opportunity to visit the courtyard with the other toddler classroom.  We caught bugs, drew, explored the bubbles, and just ventured around the courtyard that the younger children had not visited yet this school year.  The children were very happy in the new area and tried to make the wind chimes sound,  stood on rocks, walked through new flower beds, and walked along different paths.

Baby Birds!

We have recently discovered that a Robin built a nest on our playground.  After a few days of watching the bird, we snuck up to take a picture and noticed there were two eggs in the nest!  The children were excited to see the pictures and we talked about what might happen next.

After more time had passed, we found out that there were not just two babies in the nest, but three!  Again, the children were happy to see the pictures and we talked about the baby birds - how they acted, what they ate, and how they would grow.

Over the next few weeks we plan to document their growth and watch as they become independent birds.
